Now Available! Status of
the Industry in Adopting HTNG Specifications
Have you been wondering
where other companies are in the process of adopting and
certifying to HTNG Specifications and other solutions?
We have the answer for you. Our
Adoption
Tracker web page shows where various industry
players are in the process of adopting HTNG
specifications and guidelines. Initial data was
collected by survey from HTNG workgroup participants,
but HTNG members can add or update their company
information using the link found on that page.
New Workgroups Being
Considered - We Need Your Input
We've been hearing from
members about hospitality technology solution set needs
in a few new areas and we're starting an effort to
investigate interest is in these potential workgroups.
We would like to hear from hoteliers and vendors alike
as we evaluate needs and chartering potential in eight
areas: near field communications for access, above-property systems, guestroom device
provisioning and management, CRM data sharing, VAT tax
processing, shared global networks
and point of sale interfaces. More details and sign up for
initial discussions are on this
web page.
Is That Product "HTNG
Compliant"?
In recent months, it has
come to our attention that a number of companies are
claiming to be compliant, or even certified, with HTNG
specifications. While there are, in fact, numerous
HTNG-certified products, we are seeing an increasing
number of claims that are simply false. HTNG takes
appropriate action to protect our trademark whenever we
learn of these situations. Hotels and vendors alike
should know that for any official, certifiable HTNG
specification, there is no such thing as "HTNG
compliant;" a product is either certified, or it is not.
Certification is an important process in which vendors
may discover problems with their implementation that
require adjustments; most non-certified products are
likely to violate one or more of the conformance
requirements. Furthermore, without certification, the
vendor hasn't agreed to participate in the mandatory
process for rectifying errors that may be discovered
later.
The bottom line with vendor claims is: trust but
verify. To help you verify, visit the current list
of HTNG certified products at the public HTNG
Register of Certified Products.
